A large part of product visualization in bulk is render management. Having large libraries of assets, materials, and models, it’s crucial to have everything set up in a manageable way that ensures consistency across images and different render nodes. I have years of experience being responsible for setting up and running Connecter, Backburner, Deadline, and custom render management and asset library setups for different companies. Ensuring optimal performance for a render farm and consistency across hundreds of thousands of images and assets.
The largest collection at Lindberg had over 1.5 trillion combinations, and they had 15 collections total. Since it would be virtually impossible to create trillions of renders, alongside the software developers, I created a custom render management system where each customizable piece would get rendered separately and automatically based on certain properties from a database and 3D models generated from 2D technical drawings.
After years of work perfecting this with models, materials, masks, alpha channels, and more, we accomplished making a one of a kind entirely automatic system where we generated over 500,000 unique renders to assemble into the trillions of combinations on our in house render farm. This Customiser system proudly won a Red Dot Design Award in 2021, where I was responsible for all 3D aspects, render management, and render farm.
